About Us & The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Officer to join our Travel Assistance Service (TAS) Team based in Sandwell Council House.

The Travel Assistance Service team are responsible for arranging transport for children, young people and adults with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) to and from their school, college and day opportunity establishments.

The Transport Contract Officers are responsible for appointing, managing and maintaining transport contracts and dealing with any issues arising regarding these transport arrangements.

  • Proactively managing day-to-day operational issues that arise within transport arrangements, ensuring safeguarding is kept as a high priority.
  • Building and sustaining relationships with key stakeholders including contractors, parents and schools and departments across the council.
  • Maintaining effective communication with all partners, stakeholders, contractors and team members.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate should be organised and motivated with the ability to work under a high degree of pressure and deal with conflicting demands. With good IT and strong communication skills you should be able to work both independently and as part of a small team.

Hours

37 hours per week on a rota covering 7:30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday
