The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a LADO in Coventry City Council Children’s Services, to deliver the statutory functions of the Designated Officer role, in line with Working Together 2018.

As the LADO, you will have responsibility for the management of allegations against people in a position of trust who work with children under 18 in a paid or voluntary capacity.

You will be required to chair allegations (Position of Trust) meetings and provide advice, guidance, support and challenge to employers, voluntary agencies and organisations regarding employees who face such allegations.

You’ll need

You will be a qualified, accomplished and confident Social Worker with demonstrable recent experience in LADO or senior child safeguarding roles. You will have a proven ability to strategically manage investigations whilst driving forward improvements in service delivery.

You must be able to work with a level of professional responsibility and autonomy, be able to deal with complex situations that span social work practice, employment and HR processes. You will evidence that you can manage this in tandem with regulatory bodies.

You will be joining the specialist multi-disciplinary Risk Management Team which includes strategic oversight and delivery of Home Office PREVENT, Safeguarding in Education, Child Exploitation and Quality Assurance.

You will complement the team with your knowledge and experience and you will undoubtedly benefit from the extensive expertise your new colleagues will provide.
