About us:
At Warwickshire County Council, we are now commencing our graduate recruitment campaign seeking candidates for new positions in Bridge & Structural Design and Highway (S278) Teams.
We appreciate that the students who are potentially interested in these jobs are all under considerable pressure in their final year and so we have kept our application process is very simple. We require only a brief covering letter and a CV, which can be uploaded with your online application. Shortly after the application deadline, we shall contact applicants to arrange a 30 minute interview. On the day of the interview, applicants will also receive a tour of our engineering department, guided by one of our current trainees and get to speak to engineers from the various teams around the Civil Engineering Department about the projects they are working on.
If you would like to find out more about these positions, please contact us using the contact details provided below.
The deadline for Applications is Friday 13th December 2019, interviews will take place during December 2019 and January 2020.
Engineering Opportunities at Warwickshire County Council
Design Services, Warwickshire County Council are a civil engineering business unit within the Local Authority that provide a design consultancy service to both the private and public sector. The core business is comprised of the design and construction of highways and highway structures, but we also manage the maintenance of County's highway structure assets and operate a building and structural design service.
This year we are aiming to appoint two new Graduate Engineers. The proposed posts will be in the Bridge and Structural Design and Highway Design Teams.
The Bridge and Structural Design Team are responsible for the technical design of new highway structures and educational buildings, often working as part of large integrated teams including a wide range of engineering disciplines. Projects range from new buildings to new highway and drainage infrastructure to the improvement or replacement of existing structural assets which have fallen into disrepair or require a change in use. The team also provides technical engineering support to County Council Depts seeking to enhance existing farming infrastructure and waste management facilities and we have even had the opportunity to provide a technical advisory role to local government projects in Sierra Leone where they are seeking to improve their local municipal facilities.
The S278 Section facilitates the delivery of developments within the County. The Section has a large portfolio of Developer-led highway schemes, and is responsible for technical approval, procurement of contractors and supervision of these schemes
Typically, the day-to-day work for the successful candidates can involve any stage of a construction project including feasibility studies, planning consent, detailed design, contract document preparation, procurement, site supervision and later asset management and maintenance.
