Walsall Children's Services invite you to join us in our exciting transformation journey. If you are committed to working with families in a relational way and like us want to re-connect with the community in which our families live then we would like to hear from you!

Walsall have been undergoing a transformation both in the way we deliver services and the structures of some of our teams, to ensure that children receive the Right Help at the Right Time. Our use of restorative practices are deepening and bringing about a transformation in our approach to improving outcomes for the most vulnerable in our local population.

We have also been successful in  securing DfE funding to implement the Family Safeguarding Model, which is an exciting opportunity to be part of a Childrens workforce that is  focused on strengthening families and improving outcomes.  This includes increased opportunities to undertake direct work with children and work within a whole family approach.

If you would like to be part of this journey please take a look at the roles we have available!

We are currently looking for a Local Authority Designated Officer to support the delivery of a culture of safeguarding across all agencies in Walsall.

The role requires sensitive and collaborative working with managers and staff internally and with external partners and agencies, including police, in managing complaints and allegations.

The successful candidate will provide advice and guidance to employers, other agencies and voluntary organisations in Walsall regarding concerns or allegations against those working or volunteering with children and young people and manage allegations in accordance with relevant procedures and in a timely manner to maximise the safety and welfare of children and young people.

There are also opportunities to work with providers to develop their culture of safeguarding by providing training.

This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers.  The postholder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.

Closing date for applications: Tuesday 3rd December 2019

Interviews scheduled for 9th and 10th December 2019
