Qualified Teacher of the Deaf

UPR +1 SEN/2 SEN POINTS (Dependent on qualification)

Permanent

Required from January 2020

We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of the Deaf as part of Joint Arrangements between Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire Councils.  Ideally, the successful candidate will hold the mandatory Teacher of the Deaf qualification, although consideration would be given to a qualified, outstanding mainstream teacher, who is looking for a professional development opportunity in this challenging but rewarding specialist role.  This would involve undertaking the mandatory training from September 2020 whilst working as part of the team.

A minimum of 3 years recent mainstream experience is essential.

Experience of supporting hearing impaired children, their families and educational settings in a peripatetic support role is desirable. The appointed candidate will join a team of Teachers of the Deaf and allied professionals working with HI students with a range of learning and communication needs.

The role of Teacher of the Deaf requires excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and the ability to work independently as well as contributing to the wider team within the Service. The ability to be well organised and work to deadlines is essential.

Due to the nature of this role you must be able to travel independently to meet the requirements of the post. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is required.

Unfortunately, it is not possible for CVs to be accepted. The appointment will be subject to enhanced DBS clearance for the successful applicant. We are committed to equality and diversity.

Closing date:    Friday 29th November 19

Interview date: Tuesday 10th December 19
