This is an unique opportunity to manage a specialist Nursery Setting, Batchley  Nursery Plus.  Batchley First School has won national awards for it’s provision for children with Special Educational Needs. Part of an highly inclusive first school, you will be managing a team of TAs to work with a small group of Nursery Children all of whom have significant learning difficulties and complex communication needs during their pre-school year. 

Skills 

ESSENTIAL: 

Qualified Teaching Status 

Experience of working with children with Special Needs. 

Experience of working with Nursery age children. 

A desire to lead a team within a class. 

DESIRABLE: 

Training or a qualification related to Special Educational Needs. 

Working knowledge of the Graduated Response document for Worcestershire. 

Job Purpose: 

  • To lead the learning of all children in the Nursery Plus unit. 
  • To prepare and submit evidence for Education Health Care Needs Assessment 
  • To support parents and children to the best outcome in the next stage of their education.

  • Staff within Batchley First School.  
  • Children.  
  • Parents/Carers.  
  • Educational Psychologist 
  • Additional Agencies 

    Main Responsibilities: 

  •  Class responsibilities in line with teacher standards. 
  •  To lead the learning and assessment of the children. 
  •  To arrange and attend meetings to support children. 
  •  To participate in Pre-school forum. 

    Professional: 

  • To be able to identify areas for own personal/professional development evidenced by a personal development plan/professional portfolio developed within a performance management framework.  
  • To record progress and next steps in children’s development.  
  • To have regard to relevant school policies.  
  • To receive and seek support from the SENCO and other Teachers as necessary. 
  • To be accountable for own professional actions.  
  • To recognise own professional boundaries and to seek advice and support when necessary.  
  • To be aware of and adhere to current legislative and employer procedures relating to the post.  
  • To collect statistical information as appropriate.  

    Health and safety: 

  • You must be aware of and act in accordance with the responsibilities placed on you as an employee by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. You must, at all times, take regard of the health and safety of other employees, patients, service users and visitors.  

    Performance Management 

  •  All staff are expected to participate in individual performance management reviews and the personal development planning.  

    Confidentiality: 

  •  You must maintain appropriate confidentiality of information relating to the school, individuals and patient information. You will be expected to comply with all aspects of the Data Protection Act.
