Job Details
Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of our children? Do you want to make an important contribution to your local community? If so, you can achieve this by becoming a school governor.
Governors have a positive impact on children’s education, and their futures through the decisions they make. They also provide both support and challenge to the school, and work closely with the Leadership Team to continue to improve the standards of education.
At Hanbury Primary School, we have a committed and pro-active Governing Body, who has high expectations for the school. We have recently received a positive Governing Body review, which recognises the improvements that have been made. Our governors work well as a team, and any new governors would be well supported in their new role, including specific training. Our governors come from different backgrounds and have a wide range of skills and expertise, which supports the school, for example business, health and safety, and many more!
We are looking for a governor who is:
- Committed and willing to give up their own time for meetings, visits and reading reports.
- Professional and a positive ambassador for the school
- Supportive and has high expectations of the school
- Willing to attend training to develop their role as governor
Governors have a four-year term of office. There is an expectation that governors show commitment by attending meetings and school visits, and reading documentation prior to the meetings.
A discussion with the Head teacher and Chair of Governors would be offered to any interested person.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our pupils, we expect all staff, governors and volunteers to share this commitment. This position is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
Please complete and return application forms directly to the school or email to tina.lambert@hanburyprimary.school
Please state any specific skills or expertise you may have, as well as your reasons for wanting to be a school governor in your expression of interest letter.
