Due to a recent restructure and movement within our recovery team , coupled with the promotion of some of our team members we are seeking to recruit to a full time recovery and assessment officer role within our team.

The Role:

As a member of the recovery team, you will be responsible for dealing with recovery of all debts owing to the council, administering council tax, business rates, housing benefit and council tax reduction,  providing advice to customers and other service areas and supporting the council at court in connection with recovery of debt.

Key Requirements/the purpose of the role:

You will be involved in all types of customer contact, whether from taxpayers, agents and other services areas.  You will be able to determine the appropriate method of enforcement for recovery of debt and negotiating repayment arrangements in order to achieve effective and sustainable recovery of debt.

Skills and Experience:

You must have experience of administration, working practises, procedures and knowledge of council tax and business rates, or debt recovery in an operational role. You will have good negotiation, persuasion and communication skills, providing high standards of customer service. You will be able to establish and maintain good working relationships and work effectively as part of a team.
