Summerhill Primary School are looking to appoint an outstanding practitioner to the post of Parent Support Advisor.

This role will involve: 

  • Assisting students with academic learning by providing strategic services that identify and address the social-emotional-environmental issues that interfere with the education process. Working with parents/guardians, teachers, and community based agencies.
  • Implementing strategies that promote students’ positive school adjustment.
  • Working closely with other Primary Schools and feeder Secondary Schools on all aspects of Education Welfare and Child Protection with particular emphasis on promoting school attendance and offering strategic support including the interrogation of data.
  • Become a key facilitator with specific agencies and services i.e. COG – Early Help, cluster groups and assist in developments and initiatives to work with and support these agencies.
  • Supporting and assist the school with management of attendance processes.Attending and making appropriate reports to multi-agency strategy meeting including Child Protection conference and reviews.
  • Assist with the development and relevant projects linked to behaviour, child protection and attendance and the implementation of these.
  • Support the school and key staff in critical cases and court preparation work.

Reporting to the Designated Safeguarding Lead & School Social Worker, the Parent Support Advisor will be based at Summerhill Primary Academy working directly with children and their parents/carers and external agencies to ensure all pupils have full access to educational opportunities and are able to overcome barriers to learning and participation.

You will be able to relate well and develop good rapport with a wide range of people. Able to deal with sensitive issues, you should be empathetic and able to achieve positive outcomes through effective communication and influencing skills. The role will be challenging and rewarding and requires excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to empower others, work collaboratively with staff and work autonomously. Experience of delivering individual/group-based support and understanding children within their family context is essential, as well as work experience within education, social care or the voluntary sector.
