The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Teacher of GCSE and A Level Photography who is keen to support and enable students to achieve in their GCSE and Sixth Form Studies. We would be willing to consider applications from candidates who have relevant photography experience / photography qualifications but who do not hold Qualified Teacher Status.

GCSE
GCSE Photography is a very recently introduced and extremely popular GCSE option course. The lessons in school are based in an air-conditioned, well-equipped classroom with 30 desk-top PC’s. GCSE students’ camera-work is all undertaken out of school hours for homework. The GCSE Photography lessons in school are computer-based. The successful applicant will therefore be familiar with the Photoshop aspect of Adobe Creative Suite software and be able to teach use of Photoshop to a beginner level to students who have never been taught Photoshop previously in school. The successful candidate’s familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint would also be advantageous – as GCSE students present their coursework portfolio and externally-set task projects as PowerPoint slides with annotated written notes. The successful candidate’s familiarity with the OCR GCSE Level Art and Design (Photography J171) course would be advantageous.

A Level
A Level Photography is a successful level 3 course which has been delivered at Aylesford for many years and usually attracts a small group of up to half-a-dozen or so enthusiastic sixth form candidates each year. Like the GCSE, the A Level lessons in school are based in a well-equipped dedicated classroom with desk-top PC’s. A Level students’ camera-work is also generally undertaken out of school hours for homework with the lessons in school also being computer-based. The successful applicant will therefore be familiar with Photoshop Creative Suite and be able to teach use of this software to a beginner/intermediate level. The successful candidate’s familiarity with the OCR A Level in Art and Design (Photography H603) course would be advantageous.
