An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Staffordshire’s Youth Offending Service as an Operations Manager. This post is based in Newcastle but covers Newcastle and Staffordshire Moorlands and will require travel around the County.

We have 2 operational hubs in Staffordshire delivering Youth Justice Services in line with the statutory requirements set by the Youth Justice Board.

The role is to provide leadership, supervision and development of the North Hub and the individuals within it. The candidate will be expected to be a team player and will be committed to ensuring the children and victims known to the service receive the best outcomes.

Staffordshire’s Youth Offending Service is one of the largest Youth Justice Services in England and therefore there are excellent career opportunities for highly motivated and experienced staff to join a good Youth Offending Service. The most recent inspection completed stated that “there remained a competent and committed workforce dedicated to doing their best for children and young people in Staffordshire. Assessment, planning and review were done to a very high standard”.

Staff are provided with high quality regular supervision, a second to none training offer which equips staff to have the tools to do their job both confidently and competently alongside excellent line management support.

Making sure you are well supported and given the opportunity to develop and progress is a high priority at Staffordshire Youth Offending Service. We have an excellent staff development programme and good practice is recognised and rewarded.

If you are confident and have the skills and experience to manage a team and to work in a demanding environment then this is an opportunity for you to further your expertise…..so come and join our enthusiastic team.

This Authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

This position is subject to a criminal records check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) which will require you to disclose details of all unspent and unfiltered spent reprimands, formal warnings, cautions and convictions in your application form.

Candidates will hold a professional qualification in Probation or Social Work; however, applications will also be considered from candidates who do not hold this qualification but can demonstrate significant experience of managing within a Youth Offending Team.
