The role

Environmental Operations have a vacancy for a class 2 (C category) Team Leader / Driver to join our waste service.

Working within the Environmental Operations service you will manage the day- to-day task of leading a team to collect a range of waste in a variety of bin sizes across the city.

The start time is 6:45am daily Monday – Friday although some Saturday working may be required. The shift pattern may change to 37 hours over 4 days but this will be communicated in advance of any temporary change.

This position, unlike others in the waste service, is not built around a fixed weekly round so calls for a flexible approach to work as no two days will be the same.

Key requirements

Suitable applicants must have a C licence, a drivers digital card and a valid / current driver CPC card.

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant should exhibit a practical approach to work and the organisation, strong communication skills and the ability to lead by example.For safety reasons it is important that the job holder has good literacy skills in order to understand and communicate effectively within the team. They will be expected to read instructions and record activity in writing. We are looking for someone who is customer-orientated with a can do attitude. 

The applicant should be confident handling the manual and operational nature of the role whilst demonstrating good use of their own initiative and an ability to solve problems.
