Salary:  £18,795 per annum (pro rata) (grade 4; scp 5)

11.25 Hours per week - Permanent

HMP Stafford is a category C adult male prison. The Library is staffed by a team of 5 Library assistants led by the Library Supervisor and is a well-used and valued resource within the Prison. The Library is a branch of Staffordshire County Council Library Service and the onsite staff work closely with Library staff in the other Prison Libraries in the County, as well as with onsite Prison and Partner staff and Management.

The Library is open daily Tuesday to Saturday, this 11.25 part-time post usually operates on a Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning, every other Thursday morning and every other Saturday am and pm. The role requires a positive and proactive person with great customer service skills and a love of reading. We are looking for a confident person with integrity and a strong work ethic. The role does require some cover of colleagues at other times outside the set core-shifts of this post and so would suit someone with the availability and flexibility to accommodate this.

Please note that due to Prison regimes within covid, the position may start with ad-hoc shifts (same days but possibly different times from the long-term core pattern) so please factor this in when applying. Previous applicants need not apply.
