SEND Key Worker

Grade 7 Salary: £22,401.00- £25,463.00 per annum

12-month fixed term/secondment

Full time (37 Hours per week)

Staffordshire County Council is seeking to appoint one full time temporary SEND Key Worker within the Newcastle & Staffordshire Moorlands District Office, SEND Assessment and Planning Service to co-ordinate new Education Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments, maintain and review EHC Plans and undertake any other duties that relate to the EHC process. 

This particular post focuses on Preparation for Adulthood through co-ordinating the Council’s involvement and response to EHC reviews of children and young people that are Y9 or older and will predominately cover the Newcastle area.

We are seeking a passionate, motivated individual who has a real drive to work with children and young people who have special educational needs, their families and schools, in a truly person-centred way that fully involves the child, young person and their family in the process.  Developing collaborative relationships with individuals with SEND of all ages and their families, that promote choice and independence, respecting diversity and difference and reach agreement on appropriate, tangible and realistic outcomes is an integral part of the SEND Key Worker role. 

Furthermore, you will be fully expected to collaborate with other professionals, both within Staffordshire County Council and external partners, such as schools, Virtual School, the Children Disability Service, Commissioner, Inclusion Officers, Safeguarding, NHS professionals, SENDIASS etc. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a service that truly aims to make a difference to the outcomes of children and young people with SEND in supporting them to fulfil their aspirations and preparing them for living independently, gaining meaningful employment, being part of the community and maintaining good health.

This is a fast-paced role in which you will be required to manage your own caseload independently and as part of a team.  The ability to reflect on practice and improve as a result is paramount.
