Job Details

A fantastic opportunity to join an exciting, dynamic, pioneering legal team in Sandwell.

We require a Solicitor for a fixed term of 12 months, who can provide advice and assistance on all legal matters in governance law, primarily Freedom of Information, GDPR, Information Rights, but also Elected Member Standards and general advice and guidance to the Data Protection Officer and Monitoring Officer.

This role will require you to be able to advise and guide a wide range of teams across the Council in a professional and timely manner. Experience of Freedom of Information Act and GDPR work is essential, preferably from within a Local Authority.  You will be supported by a team of excellent caseworkers and business support officers.

In the heart of the midlands and 10 minutes train ride from the centre of Birmingham, Sandwell is a rapidly expanding, vibrant and diverse place to live, work and play. Flexible working is available and the post will initially be based from home, to be reviewed.

This role would be suitable for an experienced practitioner who can demonstrate the ability to deal with demanding work, with excellent client care skills, and an eagerness to provide a high-quality service to our clients and stakeholders.
