The Role
32.0 Hours per Week
Fixed Term Contract - 18th December 2020
This role is a combination of two key elements
Curriculum support:
- Contribute to curriculum planning and evaluation and assist in implementation
- Assist in the delivery of lessons/sessions and interact with the teacher and pupils as required
- Undertake agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, adjusting activities according to pupil responses.
- Support in learning activities & develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use.
- Support individuals or groups during independent /group work, e.g. explain tasks, reinforce key objectives/concepts or vocabulary, use practical apparatus, support less able pupils, extend/challenge more able, keep pupils on task, interested, motivated and engaged.
- Occasional support to whole class for short periods (eg story reading).
IT Support
- Setting up of IT equipment and have knowledge of Microsoft, G Suite and Apple software
- Maintenance or simple repair of IT equipment/apparatus where within the competence of the postholder or liaise with suppliers or companies for repairs
- Install pcs /hardware/IPADS
- Install software, evaluate new and existing software
- Provide basic training in /instruction on software
- Provide ‘on-call’ system to resolve curriculum based faults/problems where possible
- Maintain and update asset register / stock records for ICT equipment
- Issue ICT equipment
- Promote the use of ICT within the school
- Assist with IT participation in the classroom, library and IT suites
- Assist with IT design/DTP as required, eg. for school awards, publicity, displays
Key Requirements
- A minimum of GCSE A-C (or equivalent) in numeracy and literacy and ICT.
- A detailed knowledge of IT, its uses and installation
- Able to provide instruction to users
- Previous relevant experience
- Attendance at relevant in-service training
- Be aware of and understand the Authority’s regulations, e.g. H&SAW
- Able to carry out procedures, routines and follow instructions
- Display commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people
- Value and respect the views and needs of children
- Have good organisational skills
- Able to maintain records Can take initiative
- Able to interpret information, make judgements and solve problems within own sphere of expertise but has access to manager/supervisor on unusual or difficult problems.
