About Colton Hills Community School

Colton Hills Community School is a mixed, non-denominational community secondary school and sixth form for pupils aged 11-18. It is located in Wolverhampton in the West Midlands.  The school is supported by Wolverhampton City Council, has over 1000 pupils, and was formerly known by three other names: Wolverhampton Municipal Grammar School, Graiseley Secondary School, and Penn Secondary Modern. It was established in 1974.  The Headteacher is Ms Julie Hunter.

Colton Hills Community School is a highly regarded 11-18 community school judged by OFSTED to be a ‘GOOD’ school in December 2023.   Colton Hills Community School is a vibrant, inclusive community secondary school based in Wolverhampton, offering young people the opportunity of the best education – with a High Performance edge.  Offering education from year 7 to Post-16, Colton Hills, which is officially a “School of Sanctuary” strives to enrich our community by tackling inequality, promoting fairness and challenging prejudice.

It describes the school’s aims to recognise that every student is entitled to the highest quality learning experience, irrespective of their starting point.  There are no barriers to high achievement and every child can succeed.

Our staff are committed to providing the best educational provision for all our students.  All students will leave Colton Hills highly numerate and literate, with meaningful qualifications that prove this.  They will also leave with both the skills and self-belief to engage with the wider world so that they change it for the better.
