Job Start date:  1st January 2021

Due to a forthcoming maternity leave, we require a well-qualified teacher of Science, who is committed to the highest standards of academic achievement and behaviour and will genuinely enjoy working with teenagers of all abilities.   The post holder must be able to teach Science up to Key Stage 4. The ability to offer a Science specialism to Key Stage 5 would be advantageous.

This post provides an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to work in a large and high-performing department with supportive & caring colleagues, as well as the option to be involved in a wide range of STEM and other extra-curricular activities.  As part of an eight-year £8m capital investment programme, which is due to be completed early in 2021, our Science Department has recently benefited from a £1.2m refurbishment and modernisation programme, meaning that lessons are taught in light and airy state-of-the-art laboratories and classrooms.

Prince Henry’s is a popular and over-subscribed 13-18 High School with approximately 1,300 on roll including more than 330 in one of Worcestershire’s largest Sixth Forms. The school enjoys an excellent reputation locally, and has consistently been judged outstanding by Ofsted, most recently in May 2013.  Two Ofsted Survey inspections undertaken during 2014 looking at provision for the most able students, and also for alternative curriculum provision both praised the school’s ethos and its ability to deliver excellent teaching and learning to students of all abilities.

During the past seven years, the school has benefited from a £5m capital investment programme, which has seen the construction of a 14-classroom building to house English and Modern Foreign Languages, the complete modernisation and refurbishment of Science and significant improvements to all other curriculum areas.  Currently, a £3.5m project is under way to build a new classroom block for Art, DT and Food Technology. This is scheduled for completion early in 2021.

In May 2014, Prince Henry’s was awarded National Teaching School Status.  Having also been accredited with SCITT status in summer 2016, the school accepted its first trainees in September 2017.

Potential applicants are welcome to telephone Mrs Claire Fisher, Head of Science to discuss this post or to arrange to visit the school if they wish.

Application Process:

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates (either experienced teachers or NQTs) and should be submitted using the school’s official application form and accompanied by a supporting covering letter – no CVs please.  The application form can be downloaded from the school’s website www.princehenrys.worcs.sch.uk or is available from the Headteacher’s PA & HR Manager, Mrs Zoe Bradley (email secretary@princehenrys.worcs.sch.uk or telephone 01386 765588).    Applications can be submitted to Zoe Bradley in a hard copy format or electronically by email.

Prince Henry's High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
