BENEFIT OPERATIONS PENSION SUPPORT OFFICER GR 6 (£29576.00 - £33782.00) 1 POST FULL TIME 37 Hours __________________________________________________________________________________ An exciting new opportunity has arisen within one of the UK’s largest pension funds to lead and develop staff and business processes and play a key role in supporting members. The West Midlands Pension Fund is a local authority Pension Fund based in Wolverhampton, West Midlands. The Fund is one of the UK’s largest pension funds, managing and administering the pension interest of our members and scheme employers. We currently have over 330,000 scheme members, 700 employers with £15bn of assets under management. Key responsibilities will include; • To deal with all complex individual member benefit queries and calculations raised by the teams. Provide day-to-day support on how the regulations apply in individual complex cases identifying solutions through research and experience of the regulations and system, working closely, if required, with the Technical team where process or system changes are required. • To be responsible and accountable for developing and delivering training for staff on the management and processing of benefits in response to changes in pensions legislation, regulation and guidance. To include the maintenance of training materials for staff ensuring they remain current and fit for purpose • The co-ordination of and preparation of casework for decision making panels required to assess processes and circumstances surrounding the payment of benefits, for example death grant assessments and transfers. To include the preparation of casework for review ensuring all appropriate checks and investigation has been carried out.
