FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER (GRADE 5 +2)

CARE PLANNING & COURT TEAM

STAFFORDSHIRE (WS13 / B79)

 

SALARY:  £19,698 - £20,903 PER ANNUM (PRO RATA)

Staffordshire County Council’s Care Planning and Court Teams hold responsibility for a high number of Children in care and proceedings in the Family Court.  There is a clear emphasis on placement stability and sound Permanency Planning, as well as reunification support.  

We have developed a vibrant and highly motivated Care Planning and Court Service. The Service engages with children between the ages of 0-12 and creates inspirational plans which enables opportunities and empowers our children to achieve in all areas. 

As a Family Support Worker, you will be responsible for undertaking direct work with children including life story work, providing contact between children and their birth families, and supporting vulnerable young people and children in their current circumstances. You will also be expected to support Social Workers in crisis situations and may need to attend Court in relation to your involvement in relevant cases.

As such you will bring effective communication and listening skills, ability to problem solve, think logically, and remain calm in a crisis.

This position is subject to a criminal records check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) which will require you to disclose details of all unspent and unfiltered spent reprimands, formal warnings, cautions and convictions in your application form.

This position will have access to the Public Sector Network, to meet government security standards we will request a basic criminal convictions certificate and other background checks prior to appointment for the successful candidate
