Do you have excellent communication and infection prevention and control skills? Are you interested in working differently and using your skills and knowledge to make a difference across the health economy?

Hours:  37.5 per week

Salary - Band 6 NHS 21-34  £25,783.00 - £40,558.00 (dependant on qualifications and experience)

This is a Band 7 post but a Band 6 training post will be considered with the opportunity to move up to a Band 7 upon completion of a specialist degree.

Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council are looking to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic registered nurse, with relevant experience and qualifications to join their busy, friendly Health Protection Team.

You will support the Health Protection Manager, Head of Service Health Protection, colleagues in Public Health, Council colleagues, NHS commissioners and providers in Dudley, to identify potential threats to health from communicable diseases, environmental hazards and major incidents; and to deliver measures to protect the health of the public from these threats.

The role is varied, working with and across individual health and social care organisations in the borough to ensure standards of infection prevention and control are maintained and where they are not, lessons are learnt.

You will work in partnership with colleagues to address inequalities in immunisation, as well as work to ensure the high rates achieved in Dudley are maintained.

Working in conjunction with colleagues in Public Health England and providers across Dudley you will support the management of outbreaks to ensure they are bought to a successful conclusion.

You will be part of/lead on initiatives across the borough, raising awareness of communicable disease issues in areas ranging from nurseries and schools, to General Practice and Secondary care providers.

We are ideally looking for a candidate with relevant post registration experience in infection prevention and have a recognised infection prevention qualification, educated to degree level or equivalent. However, exceptional candidates without the above qualifications with a genuine interest and passion for Health protection will also be considered for a developmental post, and support and training will be provided.
