Worcestershire Children First is an independent, wholly owned council company created by Worcestershire County Council to deliver children’s services to our communities. The company was launched in October 2019 and has a single focus on children and young people. The Educational Psychology Service is part of the Education and Early Help Directorate and is looking to expand to meet the growing demand in schools, early years settings and further education settings.

The values of the company which are clearly evident in our day to day work are:

Children at our heart:     We will keep children at the heart of everything we do

Value family life: We will support and empower parents to care for their own children well

Quality education for all: We will value education as the best start in life for all children

Protection from harm: We will act in a professional and timely way to protect children from harm

The Educational Psychology Service is a supportive and collaborative team with a strong solution focused approach and an emphasis on professional growth and development. The team make a significant and effective contribution to the Education Health and Care Needs Assessment process and enjoy a positive working relationship with the SEND casework team. Additional work from the team which contributes to Worcestershire Children First’s strategic aims includes support to the Virtual School, strategic developments with Alternative Provision and Exclusions and a focus on building the capacity of schools supporting children who are anxious. Our traded offer from the Educational Psychology team is well received and continues to grow as settings experience the positive difference psychologists make to child and setting level outcomes.

Our educational psychologists work closely with specialist teaching colleagues in the Sensory Impairment Team, Complex Communication Needs Team, Learning Support Team and the Early Years Inclusion Team under a Group Manager for SEND support services.

We are looking for three energetic solution focused Main Grade Educational Psychologists to join the team in addition to a senior Educational Psychologist.

Candidates will:

1.            Be qualified Educational Psychologists or looking to complete their training during 2021

2.            Be child-centred, creative and reflective practitioners who are committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable learners in Worcestershire

3.            Be team players for whom collaboration and multi-agency working are central to their day to day approach to delivering an effective educational psychology service

A full, clean driving licence and transport will be required as postholders will be expected to travel across the County and further afield on occasions.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  An enhanced DBS with barred list check is therefore required for these posts.
