The post holder will:
- have a service and major project portfolio and lead and inspire a team of managers and employees
- support the Chief Executive in setting the Council's strategic direction and
- when appropriate, deputise to provide strategic leadership, act as an ambassador for the borough and the council, and ensure the overall successful and effective delivery of council services.
This position will also be part of the council's Strategic Executive Board with collective responsibility for a range of corporate priorities.

The council has a contractual 3 days mandatory unpaid leave which, for the majority of services, are fixed at the Christmas period. This represents a pay deduction of 1.15% in return for which employees are afforded three days unpaid leave (pro-rata for part time staff).
