SCIENCE TECHNICIAN - PHYSICS/GENERAL SCIENCE

Required from January 2021

Full time

Salary Scale: Scale E (Points 5 – 6, £19,312 FTE - £19,698 FTE)

Hours of work: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm, working 39 weeks per year, term time and training days plus some work during the last week of the summer holiday.

 

Lawrence Sheriff School is an outstanding boys’ grammar school of approximately 1000 students, over 350 of whom are in our coeducational sixth form. As a National Teaching School we play a significant role of initial teacher training and continuous professional development across the region. Job Purpose

We are looking to recruit an efficient Science Technician to join our Physics/Science Department.

You will be an experienced, effective technician who can work under pressure to tight deadlines. Your duties as part of a team will include providing comprehensive support in both technical and administrative tasks for the science departments, by providing assistance and information as required in the preparation of resources for practical lessons.

 

Person Specification

Applicants must be able to deal sensitively with matters of confidence whilst following the School Child Protection policy, for which training will be given.

Applicants must be IT literate, have an experience in working in a busy office/technical environment and in handling chemicals and laboratory equipment.
