We are seeking an Area Supervisor, to assist in the supervision and management of employees, plant & equipment, materials and a high level of service delivery needs across the City. The role will form part of a busy team, so the ability to work alongside others, work under pressure and tight to timescales is essential. At times, it’s essential we work outside of normal core hours, so participation in a rota system in order to provide cover may be required. It is also essential that you hold a full clean driving licence.

Duties will include: -

• Supervising both skilled and unskilled horticultural and street cleansing staff across a range of activities to provide a high level of service delivery.

• Requirement to work 37 hours per week, across 5 out of any 7 day period (as specified by the line manager)

• Benefit from having previous experience of horticultural and street cleansing related functions, including the use of vehicles such as ride-on mowers, mechanical sweepers, LGV vans etc where appropriately trained and qualified.

• Have good communication and IT skills, the ability to work as part of a team or on your own and undertake other duties that include dealing with members of the public as required, liaising with other members of Environmental Services, Lead Operatives, other Council officers, Supervisors and Managers.

• Processing data and have the ability to keep and maintain accurate records in accordance with the council’s agreed terms and conditions of other members of staff.
