Bridgetown Primary School are looking to appoint a caring and supportive Teaching Assistant to join our friendly, dynamic and thriving school. The successful candidate will provide cover for class teachers across the school (KS1 and KS2) when they have planning, preparation and assessment (PPA) time out of class. You will join an amazing team of staff and will receive great support.

This TA3 position is initially on a temporary basis until 31st August 2021, with the possibility of it being extended from September 2021. The successful candidate will take the class each afternoon, following the planning and preparation of the class teacher. The hours are 1pm to 3.20pm, term-time only (39 weeks), paid at Grade H, scale point 14-17. Our school is situated on the edge of the historic and cultural town of Stratford-upon-Avon and benefits from many strong community links.

Key Requirements

a)Good numeracy and literacy skills (GCSE or equivalent Maths and English at Grade C or above required)
b)Experience of working with relevant age groups within a learning environment.
c)Experience of working with children with complex and profound additional needs
d)Experience in a relevant discipline.
e)Ability to work well as part of a team.
f)An understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities.
g)Able to use basic ICT including computer, audio, video equipment and photocopier.
h)Good keyboard skills and knowledge of relevant ICT packages.
i)Knowledge of relevant policies and codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation.
j)An ability to understand the principles of child development and learning processes and in particular barriers to learning.
k)Ability to relate well to children.
l)Ability to relate well to adults.
m)Ability to understand roles of parents and carers in pupil learning and demonstrate ability to liaise with them sensitively and effectively.
n)Ability to observe, monitor and provide constructive feedback on pupils progress.
o)Ability to provide necessary personal care to children including manual handling and toileting.
p)Ability to stay calm and be patient and understanding when dealing with children
q)To be able to deal with inappropriate behaviour in a calm and non-judgemental way following school guidance.
r)Ability to successfully complete first aid training as required.
s)Ability and willingness to identify own training needs and participate in training.
t)To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school.
