Uffculme School offers co-education for children and young people of the ages 3 to 19 years from all parts of the city. Our students represent the wide cultural mix that makes up the general population of Birmingham. We are a successful school with a long and proven track record of providing high quality education for young people with a primary diagnosis of ASD. We currently cater for approximately 200 children over three sites.

We are looking to appoint an experienced Receptionist/Administration Assistant who will be one of a team of three Receptionist/Administration Assistants welcoming staff, pupils and visitors to our school and carrying out administrative duties.

This is an interesting, challenging and varied role, but one which provides an opportunity to work with a team of dedicated and supportive staff in a happy and nurturing environment.

The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, acting as a liaison between students, staff and parents. A high level of tact and diplomacy, and the ability to stay calm in a crisis, is also required in the role, as the appointed post holder will be privy to a large amount of confidential information.

Candidates must have experience of working in a busy school office environment and have excellent organisational skills with high standards for themselves and others. They must also be positive, pro-active and supportive of others within the team.

We require a candidate who:

Has a minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role in a busy school office, with administration experience of five or more years.

Is IT competent and must be able to evidence experience of using Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, Outlook and SIMS.

Is a competent typist

Is able to multitask administration duties and has excellent organisational skills

Understanding of Safeguarding

Has an excellent telephone manner with reception experience

Is confident when addressing a variety of stakeholders, either over the phone or in person.

Is resilient, flexible and committed to constantly delivering high standards.

Flexibility with regard to working at all three school sites, located a short distance apart

Is motivated and able to work independently, demonstrating initiative and pro-activity, as well as supporting colleagues as part of a team.

Is able to work under pressure and uphold a professional and friendly manner at all times.

Will work positively and constructively within their team and with other colleagues.

Will promote our core values and ethos.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
