Job Start Date: April 2021

Skilts School (to be known as Lea Hall Academy).

Skilts school is a maintained Birmingham City Council (BCC) school in Redditch which is moving to a new build site in East Birmingham in 2021. The current school accepts years 1 to 7 but the new provision would like to consult to move to a full offer for primary and Key Stage 3 pupils in due course. All children admitted will have an Education Health and

Care Plan for their special educational needs. The students who will be admitted to the school will include those with SEMH/ASD/ADHD/MLD.

The school is on a journey of expansion and change, with an increasing intake and diversification in the needs of the children accepted from purely SEMH to those that also are SEMH with ASD comorbidity.

The school will respond to the individual needs of children and young people, helping them to build strategies to minimise the barriers to their learning; enabling them to prepare for adult life both educationally and emotionally.

BCC and the incoming sponsor Trust is seeking to recruit an innovative and proactive leader; a change agent who is able to create an outstanding school, that meets the needs of all our young people in an ever changing educational landscape.

You will be open to making the move from maintained to academy status and then working collaboratively with the Trust and its schools, to maximise the educational and social opportunities available for children and young people at Lea Hall who often have complex additional needs.

Moving a school, recruiting a workforce and developing a curriculum needs a leader with vision, energy and knowledge.

If you believe you are up to this very special challenge, we would love to receive your application.

Closing Date: 30/10/2020, 9:00am

For an informal and confidential conversation, please contact Jane Edgerton, CEO at the incoming Trust, using: enquiry@leahall.fet.ac or you may email: enquiry@skilts.bham.sch.uk

Please ask for a conversation with the Chair of IEB.

You can download an application form and supporting documents from the BCC website

Final Panel interviews will take place on Friday 13th November 2020.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to all necessary pre-employment checks, including: an enhanced DBS; Prohibition check; Childcare Disqualification (where applicable); qualifications (where applicable); medical fitness; identity and right to work.  All applicants will be required to provide two suitable references.
