Cardinal Griffin Catholic College

Teacher of Music (Full Time)

The rate of pay will be Main Pay Scale / Upper Pay Scale

We have a rare vacancy at present for a full time Music Teacher to join us in January 2021, applocations are also accepted for April and September 2021 starts.  Governors are therefore seeking applications from suitable candidates for this role.

This is an exciting vacancy for a full time teacher of Music.  The College has recently increased the amount of performing arts in the curriculum and as part of this now requires a Full Time Teacher of Music to join us.  This role will also be significant in delivering our extra curricular provision and for the right candidate hours will include some timetabled outreach work with our feeder primary schools.  This will be negotiated with the candidates at interview.

Staff at the College feedback frequently on the pleasant nature of pupils and the relative absence of behavioral problems to manage because pupils are engaged in their learning. The College also champions staff well-being and has reviewed its directed time and calendar based on feedback from the staff about the demands of their roles. Support for both new teachers and those at different career stages is excellent as are opportunities to grow develop and progress.

It is important that the successful candidate is a good fit in our team of staff, and so they may be highly experienced or just starting out on their teaching journey, what matters to us is their passion for teaching, strength as a classroom practitioner and love of their subject area. Application are welcome from NQT's for the April and September 2021 start.

The College encourages applications from those of the Catholic faith, but it is not a barrier to appointment if candidates do not have that faith background provided they support the ethos of the College. We are extremely proud of our ethos which comes in very large part from our Jesuit Associate School membership and Catholic Diocesan heritage. This teaches us to be grateful for the gift of teaching that we have and to be generous in using it for the good of our pupils.

Given the current circumstances surrounding Covid19, it is likely interviews will be managed differently to our normal process and may involve a mix of online and in person (with appropriate social distancing measures) activities by arrangement with the shortlisted candidates.

Closing date for applications with January 2021 start is 9am, 20th October 2020, for April and September start dates it is 9th November 2020, although the College reserves the right to interview as soon as it has a suitable field of candidates and so encourages early applications.

Interviews will take place 21st to 23rd October 2020.

We welcome further discussions about the post and these can be conducted using a variety of online platforms or by telephone. Please make contact with us to discuss this if it will be helpful to you.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
