The day-to-day duties

The Volunteer Co-Ordinator will effectively organise and participate in volunteer recruitment events across Sandwell to recruit volunteers for the Community Offer service and will meet with members of the public who may be potential volunteers by visiting them at their preferred setting as appropriate. The successful candidate will support potential volunteers throughout the recruitment process and will deal with all aspects of recruitment, including the processing of DBS applications.

The successful applicant will support volunteers in their volunteering roles including identifying training needs, ensuring that they are aware of and adhering to MHCT policies and procedures.

The Volunteer Co-Ordinator and the services’ volunteers will be an integral part of the service delivery of the Community Offer service across Sandwell.

The Volunteer Co-Ordinator will work alongside community members, partner organisations, GP Practices, and stakeholder, to offer a supportive, effective and responsive service, identifying a suitable volunteer and supporting them in their volunteering role.

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications required:

The successful candidate will have experience of community development and outreach working within the community and experience of working with members of the public in a health and social environment. They will also have experience of working directly with services users or other vulnerable groups. The Volunteer Co-Ordinator will have experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment and experience of working with other partner organisations and will work as an effective team member.

The successful candidate must demonstrate organisational and time management skills, to prioritise workload and work on own initiative and must be able to manage boundaries with both service user and professionals.

If required must be prepared to work out of office hours including evenings and weekends, as the needs of the service demands. Must have access to own transport and be willing to travel across Sandwell.
