Sandwell Children’s Trust are recruiting for Independent Reviewing Officers for Safeguarding, we are looking for exceptional candidates who are passionate, committed and dedicated to improving the lives of children & young people.

Salary range: £41,881 - £46,845 dependent on experience plus the possibility of up to £6,500 relocation package.

  • Progress has been made in ensuring that the first response to families and children in need is timely

As an Independent Reviewing Officer working in the Trust you will:-

  • Independently chair child protection conferences and/or the statutory reviews of children looked after ensuring that plans are in place that are robust, achievable and regularly reviewed
  • Work closely with the Social Workers and Team Managers across our Children and Families teams and strengthen our existing team of Independent Reviewing Officers by ensuring that the plans for children fully reflect each child's needs, that all planning processes meet regulatory requirements, reflect best practice and maintain a focus on achieving best outcomes for the child.
  • Provide robust oversight of the progression of Childrens plans and where there are blocks provide robust and authoritative communication and escalation processes to negotiate within the authority up to the highest level to seek resolution and outcomes required for the child.

About you:

  • An experienced, energised and Social Work England registered social worker, ready to join the independent reviewing service.
  • You will need to be emotionally resilient, self-motivated, organised and innovative in your approach
  • You will require excellent verbal and written communication skills, and will need to be insightful, skilled and passionate about working with children and young people of all ages and developmental abilities, to help engage them in planning for their lives and achieve best outcomes with them.
  • You will need to be equally skilled in working with parents, carers and a wide range of professional groups and managers.
  • You will need to be confident in your own abilities, knowledgeable and skilled in quickly assimilating and analysing information, able to facilitate discussion and lead constructive challenge in what may frequently be an emotionally charged atmosphere in which you are able to effectively manage and resolve open hostility, passivity or resistance.
