The Role

17.5 Hours per Week

We are looking to appoint two enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistants/Midday Supervisors to work in our school in the afternoons. One vacancy is based at our Reception site and the second would be based in Key Stage One at our main site in Monks Kirby. The roles are on a fixed term basis until July 2021 in the first instance but has the potential to be made permanent. Previous experience in a similar role would be desirable but a passion for achieving the best outcomes for all children and a willingness to learn on the job is more important.

These roles have been created in response to our recognition of needs across the school following the lockdown period. The role will involve working in a range of capacities, including but not limited to supporting small groups and individuals with learning and engagement and providing more general class-based support. The hours required are 12 – 3.30; we would also like the successful candidates to offer support at lunchtimes, playing games with the children and encouraging positive social interaction.

We are a popular, rural primary split over 3 sites with nursery provision in the village of Harborough Magna, Reception Unit in the village of Brinklow and KS1 and KS2 at Monks Kirby. We have extensive school grounds at Monks Kirby with an extremely warm, welcoming and supportive staff team, the school being recently rated as good by Ofsted. Our pupils are bright, enthusiastic and a pleasure to work with.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate will need to:

  • have a positive, can-do attitude and a passion for ensuring every child reaches their full potential
  • be flexible and pro-active with a willingness to adapt to the needs of the children
  • understand the Primary Curriculum including the EYFS framework
  • understand the safeguarding and welfare requirements for primary age children
  • develop the children’s understanding of, and commitment to, the learning process
  • contribute towards a safe, purposeful and rich environment to optimise learning
  • contribute to the learning culture of the school’s staff and children
  • have the commitment to work closely with all members of the school community
