Legal Assistant/SPara Legal

Commercial Property team

Fixed term – 2 Years 37 Hours Full Time

Grade 6 - £29,577 - £33,782

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and successful in-house Commercial Property legal team. The team provides legal support in relation to property matters including the council’s wholly owned housing company and aims to support the Council with a proactive and solution-focused approach.

The team is looking to recruit an experienced legal assistant or paralegal to handle an interesting and varied caseload of mainly residential property matters including:- advising on key legal risks associated with estate transactions, drafting and reviewing contracts, deeds of covenant, pre-emption agreements, overage and dealing with instructions through to post completion.

Ideally you will have strong experience in property and general conveyancing matters including commercial and non-commercial transactions and be able to work on his/her initiative and give advice on a wide range of legal issues. You will be motivated, enthusiastic and keen to provide a good standard of legal advice and support to the Council. Experience in Local Government is desirable.

You will be required to provide support to Lawyers and act as a point of contract on a variety of cases, to include taking instructions and giving advice, carrying out research, drafting documents and correspondence, attending meetings.

You should have:

• Level 3 CILEX or equivalent qualification or able to demonstrate competence in dealing with legal matters to an equivalent level

• Experience in a legal office dealing with work relevant to the post.
