Job Start Date: 1st January (although this is negotiable)

We are looking to appoint an inspirational and innovative colleague to become our School Advisor for Teaching and Learning. In this key role you will support the Chief School Effectiveness Officer in working with schools and leaders to implement relevant strategies and best practice in order to secure outstanding outcomes for the 3500+ pupils within our care in 17 primary schools across the West Midlands.

We want to appoint someone who will identify with and share our vision and values and who can contribute to the direction of the Trust, as well as having the skills and knowledge needed to meet our objectives. Successful candidates will actively support and promote our Christian ethos.

We recognise that you may come from a different faith background or have no faith yourself. Our priority is to employ leaders that share the same values regarding education provision, as set out above.

To join us you will need a background gained in a school or local authority setting. It is essential that you have a recent proven track record in delivering outstanding teaching and learning and supporting others to improve their teaching. A personal philosophy for education and being able to align that with current initiatives and Ofsted requirements is also key to the role. We are looking for someone who can inspire others, promote continuous learning and build strong productive relationships whilst living by our Christian values. Knowledge of safeguarding legislation regarding young people will also be essential.

About the Role

The role of School Improvement Advisor for Teaching and Learning will be primarily to support leaders across the MAT to achieve the best outcomes for our pupils. We currently have 17 primary schools based in three hubs across the Midlands, which will expand to 18 schools in September 2021 and hopefully 20 schools by September 2022, including our first secondary school (Christ Church Secondary C of E Academy). There are over 3,500 pupils within our current schools, many of whom are vulnerable due to disadvantage.

Our School Improvement Advisor will support the Chief School Effectiveness Officer (CSEO) and the School Effectiveness Team in securing national attainment and outcomes for all of our pupils whilst ensuring that the MAT’s

vision and values are upheld, especially regarding ensuring pupils receive an education that delivers ‘life in its fullness’.

This role will suit a leader who likes to be hands on, working with all colleagues in our schools to ensure our vision is delivered. You will support the CSEO in identifying where the issues are and how the schools may be best supported.

The role will involve analysing data, comparing groups, identifying where vulnerabilities lie and determining how to address them to ensure the best outcomes for our pupils; therefore, an understanding of data is essential. In addition, you will have extensive knowledge of how best to support teachers within the classroom including supporting them with any CPD and training needs they may have -including regularly modelling teaching.

This is an exciting proposition for a passionate teacher committed to making a difference beyond their school.

Further details of the trust can be found at https://bdmatschools.com/

Closing Date: 02/11/2020, 12 noon

There is a clear vision which is ensuring that the Council is working for communities today and building for tomorrow, we focus our resources on five key priorities:

  • A Prosperous Birmingham: through a focus on inclusive economic growth, tackling unemployment, attracting inward investment, and maximising the benefits of the Commonwealth Games.
  • An Inclusive Birmingham: through a focus on tackling poverty and inequality, empowering citizens, promoting diversity and civic pride, and supporting and enabling all children and young people to thrive.
  • A Safe Birmingham: through a focus on making the city safer, safeguarding vulnerable citizens, increasing affordable housing, and tackling homelessness.
