Job Details

To work with the Senior Management Teams to define, agree and deliver service priorities including but not limited to the delivery of the Medium Term Financial Strategy and any other major projects. 

To deliver the UGC’s corporate financial requirements in line with internal and external regulations and timescales.

To be responsible for the co‐ordination of the financial forecast reporting to the respective Leadership Teams.

To lead on the strategic budget process for the business and manage detailed reviews of the respective base budgets.

To apply technical expertise/professional analysis to high level problem resolution, using consistent technical judgement to guide the UGC’s decision making.

To provide high‐level technical expertise or professional advice, to maintain and/or develop systems and processes to support compliance with the relevant legislation and statutory duties and to facilitate the delivery of effective services.

To monitor and record the service teams output against performance targets and to take any corrective action as required.

Provide interpretation, advice and guidance on the operation and implementation of external regulations and statutory requirements and internal financial regulations.

Prepare and present reports of a high standard to the Senior Management Team, ExCom and UGC Board sessions.

Attend and contribute positively to key meetings including but not limited to Audit and Risk Committee Meetings, Board Meetings, Senior Management Team Meetings and Financial Leadership Team Meetings.

A responsibility for the development of policies and procedures which meet the social, economic, legal or technical demands on the organisation in relation to finance and which can be seen to have a major impact on the operation of, or strategy across, the UGC.

Ensure that all financial policies, processes, practices and systems are operated and implemented in accordance with the relevant requirements.

Lead the team in the development of financial practices to support those activities of the UGC & Council which have a commercial focus.

Take a leading role in the development of the organisation’s own commercial offering and market them accordingly.

Lead and manage any future team and to be responsible for motivating, engaging, developing and supporting the team through the UGC’s Performance and Development Review Framework.

Manage any future finance team to deliver the priorities agreed with the Business and the requirements of the corporate financial cycle (budget setting, monitoring and final accounts).

Manage relationships with Members, the public, customers and partner organisations to enable the delivery of service.

Act as a representative for Commercial and Contracts Director as appropriate on all finance activities.

Liaise with the Finance Team within SMBC to ensure smooth transfer of information and reporting.

Exchange orally or in writing varied and complex information with a range of audiences.

Exercise advisory, guiding, negotiating, and persuasive skills.

Investigate customer queries.

Develop networks to share/exchange information/experience/expertise/best practices to enable delivery of services.

Work with external individuals, partners and groups to facilitate the delivery of Service objectives.

Develop mutually beneficial internal/external working relationships and use these to get feedback on effectiveness of service delivered.

Manage and/or give technical direction to own staff or others for the most effective delivery of business requirements.

Seek feedback from customers on services provided and suggest changes that could improve performance.

Make most effective use of own available time.

Ensure own technical Knowledge is up to date.
