Due to retirement the Governors of St James’s wish to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Office Manager.

The post has responsibility for a small office team of staff, including their recruitment, performance management, supervision, work allocation and quality assurance.

The successful candidate will lead by personal example and ensure that the Christian ethos and vision of the school, permeates all aspects of school life. As Office Manager, the core purpose of the job is to provide efficient and effective support services within the school office and premises teams, and together with the Finance Officer, assist the Senior Leadership Team with the planning, organisation and delivery of the school finances under the direction of The Headteacher. The successful candidate will report to the Head teacher and governing board.

To work alongside the Finance Officer, Senior Leadership Team and Governors to operate, maintain and develop the school’s financial procedures and systems, ensuring that legal and safety requirements regarding people, property and the function of the school are maintained.

To manage the financial and timetabled provision of peripatetic music lessons ensuring separation of funds from the delegated budget.

To be responsible for the school site and its buildings, their maintenance and efficient use. To act as line manager for the caretaker and premises staff.

To take a lead role in liaison with relevant members of the LA to support the management of the Budget, Finance and Premises.

To actively promote the school and Local Authority’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

To ensure that the single central record is maintained, and that staff employed and visitors to the school have the relevant clearances. An enhanced DBS check with barred list check is mandatory for this role.
