Do you want to make a real, positive difference to the children and young people of Worcestershire?

If yes, we want to hear from you.

The Role – Locality Safeguarding Team Managers (Permanent and Maternity cover position available)

My name is Tina Russell and I am the Assistant Director for Worcestershire Children First.

My senior leadership and I are looking to recruit to the last remaining Team Manager vacancies in our service. If you are a dedicated and creative experienced social worker or existing team manager looking to make a difference, develop your career and improve the lives of children and young people, then Worcestershire Children Services should be your next destination.

We are looking for candidates who will keep relentless focus on positive outcomes for our children and young people. You will lead, manage and inspire a small team of up to 6 social workers and be supported by dedicated administrative support.  Supporting you in the management of ASYEs and staff performance and development are a team of advanced social work practionners.  We also have a strong permanent experienced senior management team to support you in your role as Team Manager.

Safeguarding Locality Team – Covering Bromsgrove, Kidderminster and surrounding areas

The team consists of Team Managers, experienced and newly qualified Social Workers, and Business Administrative Support Officers.

The team work collaboratively to support one another to ensure that the children and families that we work with receive a high-quality service, where their needs are fully assessed and the right level of support and intervention is provided. The team undertake Child in Need Planning, Child Protection Planning, direct work with families and where necessary management of public law proceedings. There continues to be both private and public Law proceedings that necessitate formalised report writing. Multi agency working is significant and positive relationships continue to be forged with our partner agencies.

The teams are supported by specialist family support workers, and a dedicated team to support young people on the edge of care. In addition, a multi-agency Family Safeguarding team is being established and we are welcoming PAUSE to Worcestershire in the New Year.

The Service

Our service recently rated Requires Improvement by Ofsted gives a clear commitment to ensuring that we have the right capacity, capability and environment for our workforce and to achieving outcomes for children and young people we work with. This is an exciting time to join the team.

Our revised operating model sees smaller teams enabling increased managerial oversight and support to social workers.

The service has doubled its Supervised Contact Service and created a dedicated team to undertake welfare return interviews. Both these activities have increased social workers' time to spend directly working with children and young people and this has been welcomed by staff.

Ofsted inspection and Social Work Health Checks have reported a positive morale and confidence in management vision and leadership of the services.

It’s a great time to join our service and help us make a lasting difference to the lives of children and young people we work with.

Our offer to you:

We offer a basic salary of up to £49,186 per annum plus a one off 'Welcome Payment' of £3,000 and an annual 'Retention Payment' of up to £3,000 (Subject to terms and conditions).

We also have a great range of other benefits including flexible and mobile working, continual professional and career development through our Social Work Academy and a supportive environment where staff values each other.
