Level 2 Operative (Bereavement Services)
Worcester City Council are advertising for a Level 2 Operative in our Bereavement Services team.
It is a fantastic place to work and you will find us to be an organisation that is challenging yet caring; with our leadership adventurous in its pursuit of excellence.
At Worcester City Council, we have a work-family culture and we are proud to support and value the combination of employees’ work and family lives.
We have a clear vision to achieve excellence in everything we do and to achieve excellence in everyone we employ, meaning we are looking for an excellent candidate to come and join our work family!
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Bereavement Services team carrying out the day to day operation of both burial and cremation processes. Do you like variety in your role? Then get in touch, we'd love to hear from you! This position will give you the variety across the service including grounds maintenance, carrying out grave digging and all other maintenance requirements. You will be expected to do tasks such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, strimming and gardening, as well as cremating, chapel duties and ashes/burial attendance.
It is our aim to build a high level of flexibility and resilience across the team, enabling the service to maximise its efficiency in delivering the best possible customer care to the public. If you're passionate about your customers, let us know!
Being a part of the Bereavement Services team means you will be exposed to sensitive situations, so the successful candidate should be conscientious, personable and empathetic. To undertake the variety of roles we're asking you should have general experience of using power tools and both small and large plant machinery. You must be confident to undertake all duties.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role we would like to see that you are cremator qualified and hold an ICCM COTS grave digging qualification.
You should have experience of working within a bereavement setting, working to deadlines and working within a ground’s maintenance or gardening team. If this sounds like you then you should submit an application for us!
If you'd love to hear more about the role then please contact Adam Smith directly on 07542228520 or email Adam.Smith@worcester.gov.uk
This advert will close on Sunday 29 November and we will be holding virtual interviews via Zoom on Wednesday 9 December.
