We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Service Manager to lead and jointly manage, with a second Service Manager, a team of 14 (FTE) IRO’s/Conference Chairs. One post holder with have lead portfolio for Children Looked After and one for Safeguarding but the post holders will be supportive of each other and interchangeable. There will be a particular emphasis on avoiding delay, quality assurance, and dispute resolution where appropriate. You will provide operational management, leadership and direction in the delivery of the multi-disciplinary and partnership approaches designed to improve and enhance the outcomes of Children Looked After and Children on Child Protection Plans.
You will play a key role in ensuring a performance culture that delivers results through rigorous challenge, professional support and a determination to ensure continuous improvement in meeting the needs of children and families in Dudley. You will champion social work, its values and the importance of the profession. Under the overall direction of the Head of Children’s Safeguarding, Practice and Quality Assurance.
It is vital that the successful candidate will possess significant experience within the children’s social care arena and be well able to provide strong leadership, operational management and strategic direction.
You will be registered or eligible to be registered, on the SWE register for qualified social workers.

The council has a contractual 3 days mandatory unpaid leave which, for the majority of services, are fixed at the Christmas period. This represents a pay deduction of 1.15% in return for which employees are afforded three days unpaid leave (pro-rata for part time staff).
