Assistant Project Engineer

£27,741 - £29,577 per annum

Do you have a passion for civil engineering and construction? Do you want a diverse and varied workload? If so, this is your opportunity to be part of a dynamic team solving engineering issues and delivering projects across the borough.

This is a role in Telford & Wrekin Council’s Engineering & Project Delivery Team delivering a diverse range of projects including drainage, public realm, highways, heritage and safety schemes. You’ll be based between the site, office and home and will be part of the team designing and delivering projects via our term service contract.  

We are looking for HNC qualified candidates with relevant experience in the sector. You will working in a Project team designing and delivering schemes and will be expected to have strong design and supervision skills to ensure high quality and safe schemes are delivered. You will working closely with contractors and internal clients to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget. You must be able to provide your own transport with insurance for business use to allow travel to sites. Candidates should have suitable experience and skills in design, and supervision and have knowledge of project management processes and NEC3 contracts. You will work alongside a team of engineers delivering a package of schemes as part of the Council’s 4 year investment programme to Protect, Care and Invest in our borough. You should be and able to work autonomously for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.

Telford a new town has its roots in the 1960s but this doesn’t mean we’re stuck in the past. Over the last 50 years the town has grown and developed into a hub of innovation and investment.  Telford & Wrekin Council is ambitious, always looking to develop, improve and attract investment. The Council has recently delivered a number of exciting projects including the Telford Footbridge which won three ICE awards, a new Innovation Park in Newport, a new Salt Barn and scores of other schemes improving drainage systems, improving assets and repairing heritage structures. We are now in the second year of our Pride in Our Community £55m investment programme and need engineers to deliver a multitude of projects to improve our public green spaces and highways network, will you be part of shaping it?
