Job Details
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is a small Council with big values. We are currently recruiting for a payroll officer to assist the financial section by administering the authority’s payroll transactional process.
This role will include management of the monthly payroll transaction process, entering data into the computerised payroll system, maintain records, be the point of contact for both internal and external customers, manage monthly balancing to ensure the correct deductions and payments have been taken.
Accuracy and time management skills are essential in this role as well as the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders both internal and external. The ability to prepare and process financial information for use by others is also necessary, as well as the ability to continually monitor the transactional payroll process, suggesting improvements where necessary.
This role will provide supervisory support to the payroll administration assistant. Including providing advice and guidance, appraisals, and regular monitoring.
To be successful in this role, you will require.
• Relevant experience with payroll in an office setting
• Management experience
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with internal and external contacts
• Experience of transactional payroll
• Maths and English qualification at level 2
• Organised and have effective time management skills to meet deadlines
Maths and English at level 2 or equivalent is essential for this role. A CIPS qualification would be advantageous but is not essential. A working knowledge of PAYE, statutory payroll deductions and local government pension schemes is also desirable.
This role is part time at 24 hours per week, with days and working times to be discussed with the successful applicant.
