Telford and Wrekin Council are looking to offer a programme of support for the Government's new Kick Start Programme offering a paid job over 6 months, with support for progressing on into further employment, to eligible young people 16 - 24 claiming universal credit.



The council will look to make available a variety of roles across the council and build a rolling programme of recruitment into these posts.

This role will be responsible for helping to recruit and support young people in these 6 month job roles.

The Kick Start Programme Support Officer is required to work directly with young people on the programme in a variety Council settings and services, to actively support individuals to maximise their employment skills while on placement and support them in to a positive position at the end of their placement. This post will work alongside the Kick Start Programme Project Officer post who will be responsible for monitoring placements and the administration the scheme. Support may be on line as well as face to face when this can be done.

• To build and maintain effective partnerships with a range of services, organisations and providers
• Work creatively to enable young people to get training and employability support to maximise their time at the council.
• To assist the young people on the Kick Start Programme to explore opportunities to move on at the end of the programme
• To work with managers offering the work placements to ensure placements are successful.
. To deliver a service which complies with safe systems of work in accordance with Health and Safety, safeguarding and risk management policies and procedures

• Ability to communicate effectively with young people, carers, in house service managers and a wide range of partner agencies including employers in a multi-disciplinary environment.
•Ability to work in partnership with young people on the programme to produce and review outcome focussed Employment support action plans.
• A high standard of written and oral skills, including accurately recording young peoples progress and other information relevant to the role (written and /or on computer).
• Computer skills to meet requirement of the role.
• Ability to work in a team and use own initiative. Have a flexible approach to hours worked in order to meet the changing and developing needs of the service
