Dudley MBC is seeking an experienced Contracts and Major Projects Principal Solicitor/Barrister.
Dudley MBC is a Community Council rich in history and is very focused on regeneration and reinvesting itself to meet challenges of the future, forming part of the West Midlands Combined Authority.
Legal Services continues to be accredited to Lexcel, the Law Society’s standard for excellence in Legal Practice Management and Client Care.
The Contracts and Major Projects team forms part of the wider Law and Governance Division and we are seeking to appoint an additional Principal Solicitor/Barrister to further enhance the professional service we provide to our internal and external clients
Hours: 37 per week
Salary: Grade 13
Location: 4 Ednam Road, Dudley Town Centre/Working from home
Reporting directly to the Lead for Law and Governance, the successful applicant will assist in the provision of an efficient and effective legal service to the Council, its Members, various directorates and officers. This will include working directly with a caseload, predominantly involving Contracts/Major Projects, but will also be required to inspire, motivate and support employees for which the has responsibility (sometimes in areas of law that may not be the post holder’s main area of experience, e.g., Planning and Conveyancing).
As Principal Solicitor/Barrister you will also have responsibility for managing inter-directorate relationships, together with partner organisations as well as ensuring a stimulating, healthy, safe, supportive and satisfying working environment.

The council has a contractual 3 days mandatory unpaid leave which, for the majority of services, are fixed at the Christmas period. This represents a pay deduction of 1.15% in return for which employees are afforded three days unpaid leave (pro-rata for part time staff).
