An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 full time Adoption Social Workers to join our vibrant adoption team. We are a high performing adoption service that provides adoption services across the region of Shropshire Council and Telford and Wrekin Council within the Together 4 Children Permanence Partnership. We pride ourselves on good practice and we are nationally recognised for our timeliness and providing good adoption outcomes for our children. By joining our service you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to children’s lives.
As a pre adoption social worker you will be involved in recruiting, preparing and assessing the suitability of prospective adopters. You will be involved in family finding for children in need of adoption and matching the most suitable adoptive family to the child. You will be supporting adoptive families and children through to the adoption order. You will need to have a good understanding of the impacts of early childhood trauma, separation and loss upon children and be child focused in your approach to matching.
As a post adoption social worker you will be expected to provide direct and indirect interventions for adoptive children and families, support adoptive families through the completion of robust assessments of needs and reviews, provide advice and direct interventions that meet the therapeutic support needs of children, provide consultations and training to support trauma informed practice across the wider service.
You will need to have demonstrable understanding of Adoption legislation and regulations, the Children Act and associated Adoption Support Regulations.
To apply for these posts you will need to possess a recognised social work qualification (BA Honours in Social Work, CQSW, DipSW) and evidence of HCPC registration. You will need to have experience and knowledge of looked after children systems, child protection and the Public Law Outline. Experience of working directly with children and families who have experienced trauma will be required.
The Joint Adoption Service are part of a partnership with Staffordshire Council and Stoke on Trent Council in relation to Adoption and Permanency, in line with the Government’s Regionalisation of Adoption agenda. The successful candidates will be part of the new Together 4 Children Partnership.
