School Library Assistant

Grade 3

£15,050 - £15,351 (pro rata salary)

(Term time only, 8.30am – 3pm, ½ hr lunch, 30 hrs per week)

 

We are looking to recruit a highly enthusiastic and motivated School Library Assistant to work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and the English Department.  The successful candidate will work in a collaborative environment, working within the library to promote an inspirational and motivated reading culture, providing consistent support to our students whilst recognising and responding to their individual reading needs.

We are looking for a person to join us who will:

  • Manage the day-to-day running of the school library.
  • Use the in-house library system to catalogue books and other library resources.
  • Ensure that the library is well-ordered and kept neat and tidy at all times.
  • Manage the student librarian team, assigning tasks and ensuring that the ‘student voice’ remains integral to the development of the school library.
  • Assist in the promotion of a school-wide culture of reading through the implementation of library events, competitions and challenges.
  • Assist students in the selection of reading materials, recommending books as appropriate.
  • Record and monitor students’ performance.
  • Monitor the sixth form private study within the library environment
  • Offer reading support on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Have a positive impact on reading progress for individual students
