Who we need

Working in a fast-paced environment, you must be able to easily translate large volumes of complex information, from multiple sources, into customer friendly language, to drive behaviour change.

You will be required to build relationships and work collaboratively with communication teams across the West Midlands. Being approachable, having excellent written, verbal and communication skills, as well as the ability to influence in person is an absolute must.

We need you to lead and coordinate relationships with a range of partners and stakeholders, so a calm head and ability to work effectively under pressure is essential.

You must be dynamic and a confident communicator with experience in managing complex communication and marketing campaigns, writing copy for various channels, including press releases, creating content for marketing and social media channels and engaging communities via traditional and digital media.

Using your knowledge and background as a communications professional, you will identify opportunities to support or deliver campaigns that support business objectives and report success through your ability to analyse and evaluate effectively.

Working as part of a team comes naturally to you and you will work closely across all areas of policy, strategy and innovation and the wider business to identify opportunities to improve documents, the customer experience and develop partnerships with our key stakeholders.

In return for your hard work and commitment, we will reward you with a range of competitive and attractive benefits.

Who we are

Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) plans, develops and manages an integrated transport system for the West Midlands that is reliable, affordable and accessible for all. It is the transport arm of the West Midlands Combined Authority

A standard setter in the industry, our achievements are regularly recognised nationally, most importantly as the winner of ‘City Region Authority of the Year’ in 2016, 2017 and 2019 at the National Transport Awards.

Whether it’s developing and delivering new infrastructure, collaborating on future mobility projects, operating the West Midlands Metro or helping customers to keep moving, we need creative and innovative talent to join our already excellent team and help us make a real difference to residents, businesses and visitors travelling in and around the West Midlands.

About Future mobility zones

Mobility lies at the heart of human activity. It connects people to jobs, markets, opportunities and, most importantly, to each other. It is central to prosperity, economic success, social cohesion, whilst also having a tremendous impact on environmental and personal health.
As city regions in the West Midlands continue to grow, so does their need to reduce the environmental and social impact of their growing population. It is therefore imperative that we all start adopting more sustainable ways of achieving our mobility. Future forms of mobility must not only be environmentally conscious but accessible, connected and offer a compelling alternative to single occupancy car travel.

Transport for West Midlands are working on four strategic actions to deliver a mobility eco-system befitting of a rapidly evolving world:

Infrastructure Investment – making our roads “intelligent” and growing our network of services. We seek to create compelling mobility offers for more people, more often.

Market Creation – Stimulating business and creating an environment in which innovation and new mobility thinking can flourish.

Consumer Engagement – Seeking to engage, educate and encourage adoption of more sustainable transport practices.

Policy and Regulation Maturation – Underpinning all progressive ambitions are a set of rules which must evolve sympathetically.

Future mobility is happening right now. Here at TfWM, alongside several key partners, we are looking to spearhead activity that realizes its potential.

This is a remote working opportunity until a date is agreed for the WMCA workforce to return to our usual place of work at 16 Summer Lane, Birmingham.

Our priority is to keep all our employees safe and well during this time. We will be working remotely for the foreseeable future, and we are doing everything we can to ensure all our employees can enjoy a comfortable remote working space.
