Trading Standards Officer

Exciting opportunities have arisen for a Trading Standards Officer to join our high quality, professional Trading Standards team at Staffordshire County Council. You will be joining us at the start of a newly re-structured department that focusses on delivering the most effective service for Staffordshire residents and embraces intelligence led activity within a matrix working environment.

Our vision at Staffordshire County Council is for a connected Staffordshire, where everyone can prosper, be healthy and happy.  Staffordshire Trading Standards is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly competent Trading Standards Officer to support the team in protecting Staffordshire’s residents and promoting a safe and fair-trading environment across Staffordshire.

Trading Standards enforce a wide range of legislation relating to the supply and distribution of goods and services whilst providing consumer protection for the residents of Staffordshire with a focus on the most vulnerable to ensure they have a safe, healthy and financially secure environment.

We are looking for an experienced, Qualified, Trading Standards professional to help us protect residents and promote a safe and fair-trading environment across the County.  The successful candidates will provide the full range of core Trading Standards functions and be expected to contribute to the generation of income for the department. 

The successful candidate will be extremely self-motivated skilled in managing competing workloads and demands and have excellent communication skills. A knowledge of the IOM and use of intelligence to drive Trading Standards activity would be an advantage too.

Please note that some working outside of normal hours is expected and the postholder may be expected to share in a 24-hour emergency call-out rota
