Principal Network Change Officer
Fixed Term Contract until 31/05/2022
We are looking a Principal Network Change Officer to work to work with our PFI Contract Management team.
You will lead a small team responsible for managing changes to the city’s highway network. Working with officers that develop and implement schemes that change the assets on the public highway, you and your team will manage changes to ensure that assets can be maintained on project completion. This involves understanding both the asset and financial implications of change for the council. An eye for detail and experience in analysing change proposals / business cases, data and preparing reports is essential and ideally you will have previous supervisory or management experience.
This is a great opportunity for you to develop your process and change management skills. You and your team will play a key role in supporting our Performance Manager in making sure that assets are maintained and the council manages maintenance costs. You will also work closely with our Commercial and Payments Team to ensure they have the information they need to make contractual payments.
The successful applicant will also provide support to our Performance Manager and the wider PFI Contract Management team in helping them to identify and develop new contractual approaches, changes and solutions that offer value for money and achieve efficiencies and savings. Previous highways experience isn't essential, but the ability to build relationships and rapport would be a real asset.
This is an exciting but at times demanding role, so you will need to be able to stand your ground and be passionate about getting the best result for Birmingham. Your eye for detail and ability to analyse information will be put to great use as you help challenge our thinking and ensure our officers and our service provider are delivering on their obligations and are making sound decisions which benefit Birmingham.
You will need to be a dynamic individual who is able to hit the ground running, be flexible, adaptable and be comfortable working on your own initiative and as part of a close-knit team.
If this sounds like you, we would like to hear from you.
For more background information, please see the attached Applicant Pack and job description / person specification.

Interviews for this post will take place virtually via video conferencing. Shortlisted candidates will be provided with further information.
We welcome applications from people with caring responsibilities and flexible working options will be considered.
Right to work in the UK documentation will be fully checked for all applicants. All non-UK applicants (excluding Ireland) may require a Certificate of Sponsorship from Birmingham City Council and must have an approved visa from the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) before any employment offer can be confirmed. Unless they are an EEA or Swiss citizen or their family members, already living in the UK by 31 December 2020, then they will need to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) instead.Supporting documents
