THIS IS AN INTERNAL VACANCY OPEN TO EXISTING WALSALL COUNCIL EMPLOYEES ONLY

We are seeking applications for the post of Permanence Coordinator by the closing date of 11th December 2020.  Interviews will take place in the week commencing 14th December 2020.

This is a critical role in helping us to ensure that our children have the chance for a settled, secure and permanent home as soon as possible - it’s a privilege to be involved in this sort of planning.

As the Permanence Coordinator you will play a pivotal role in promoting good permanence planning and ensuring children within Children’s Social Care achieve permanency in a timely manner.

You will contribute to and support the development of practices, procedures and policy, whilst also providing consultation and guidance to front-line staff with regards to permanency planning with a focus on achieving permanency through either adoption, long term fostering or special guardianship.

You will refer children with adoption plans or in need of early permanence placements to the Regional Adoption Agency and undertake regular liaison with the Regional Adoption Agency to monitor progress of children referred.

Providing expert guidance in situations of complexity, where there is conflict or resistance, you enable others in the team to manage complex and challenging situations.

To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate

  • Experience and knowledge of children's care planning with experience of moving plans forward robustly for children in the care proceedings process as well as newly looked after children and children with care orders. This should include knowledge of adoption and special guardianship planning and the required regulatory and legal processes around this aspect of permanency.
  • Extensive and up to date working knowledge of relevant national and local policy, statutory guidance and legislation
  • The ability to promote positive working relationships in and across teams, using strategies for collaboration and arbitration.
  • Ability to routinely explain professional reasoning, judgements and decisions made and record these in a clear concise way
