Salary: £37,724 - £40,506
Full-Time: 35 Hours
Location: Worcester

We are transforming how we provide Financial Services to Worcestershire County Council to deliver an ongoing improvement programme to reflect the changing requirements of the Council, our partners and customers.

We are looking to appoint to 4 vacant Finance Business Partners posts within the service, with 3 posts in Internal Audit and one in Service Finance, and we welcome candidates applying for either or both of these opportunities. Please indicate in your application which role (s) you are applying for and there will only be one interview process covering both areas.

Internal Audit is integral to the delivery of the Council’s organisational and operational objectives, providing assurance, advice, support and challenge at all levels.  We provide similar levels of engagement with Worcestershire Children First and the Worcestershire Pension Fund.  We have a three-year rolling audit programme based on Healthy Organisation controls and assurance themes and we are working with operational managers to develop and manage key lines of enquiry.

Service Finance is integral to the delivery of the Council’s organisational and operational objectives, providing assurance, advice, support and challenge at all levels.  This post will be working with the operational managers providing financial advice, quality assurance and challenge on budget forecasting variances, challenge and support relating to change programmes, business cases, strategic financial advice, value for money statements, cases for change, Directorate Leadership Team (DLT), cabinet, scrutiny and Chief Officers Group (COG)/Senior Leadership Team (SLT) reports and financial management of projects.

Continuous development is key to success and as such we regularly undertake team development sessions, using MBTI, Appreciative Inquiry and Insight principles.

You will be a qualified accountant or auditor, with a CCAB or CMIIA level 7 qualification, or be qualified by experience and ideally will have previous experience of working in the public sector.  Leadership, communication, and persuasion skills will sit alongside technical skills and knowledge in the successful delivery of the role.

If you would like more information about the role, our principles and ethos, and the direction of Finance in Worcestershire, please contact Stephanie Simcox, Head of Finance / Deputy Chief Financial Officer, at ssimcox@worcestershire.gov.uk  or Jenni Morris, Chief Internal Auditor, at jmorris4@worcestershire.gov.uk so that a call can be scheduled.
